Residency requirements in Washington
To file for divorce in Washington State, either you or your spouse must be a resident in Washington. According to the state, this means being in the state with the intent to make the state your home. There is no time limit in place for this requirement. As noted above, there is no specific requirement to file in any county so that you can file in the county you currently live in or choose another county if it would be more convenient (such as if you were taking advantage of the mail-in filing option).
