The Wyoming courts support and recognize joint legal custody as the best option, when it is in the best interests of the child. Both parents are given the right to make important decisions about a child’s well-being and upbringing in these arrangements, even though it does not require that a child spend equal time with both parents. In most cases, the courts will approve any agreement regarding custody reached by the parents, as long as it preserves the interests of the children involved.

Wyoming Child Support Guidelines

There are statewide child support guidelines in Wyoming that apply in nearly every case, unless there are exceptional circumstances present. In these instances, both parents’ gross incomes and child-rearing expenses are considered as part of the child support obligation calculation. Payments for child support will continue until a child is 18 and may extend throughout the child’s secondary education.
